Building a Stellar Sales Team: Finding the Right Fit

Ever feel like businesses are on the hunt for some elusive "sales unicorn" to handle ‘everything sales’, only to end up frustrated when they can't fill the position? 🤯


But why is it such a challenge?


Let's break it down. In outbound cold sales, especially for tech products, you need to:


  • Find prospects (if it's outbound)

  • Craft compelling cases and generate sales-driven content (to boost conversion rates)

  • Qualify prospects and set up demos (through calls, sophisticated email and LinkedIn campaigns, for example)

  • Conduct demos and close deals

  • Upsell and extend contracts


Finding someone who can do all of that flawlessly? Rather impossible. After all, these stages require different personal qualities.


So, how do successful businesses tackle this? 😎


  • They assign prospect hunting to sales analysts (easy to outsource).

  • Marketing takes charge of content generation (you can even outsource sales copywriting).

  • Sales Development Representatives or SDRs handle prospects’ qualification and demo appointments.

  • Account Executives conduct demos and close deals.

  • Account Managers or Customer Success teams nurture relationships and renew contracts, sometimes hand in hand with Account Executives.

  • Sales training can be done by folks such as myself (feel free to reach out).


You might think this team setup sounds bloated and expensive, but it's not. Most roles can be part-time and outsourced. Plus, except for Account Executives, they're generally more cost-effective than hiring a ‘jack-of-all-trades SalesHero’.
